Many people actually own a car battery charge nowadays. They find it quite useful and convenient to have it around their houses. However, not many users actually know how to use their charges properly. Are you one of those?
Below are my tips on how to use your car charger the right way. Keep on reading to know more.
1. Read the Instructions Carefully
How about try opening the instruction book and giving it a look? After all, it does not hurt to be extra careful. You want to make sure that you understand everything about your product before putting it to use.
2. Know Your Charger
Believe or not, there are actually many types of car chargers on the market. There are the trickle charger, the float charger, the portable charger, etc. And each of this charger operates differently.
For instance, the float charger can protect itself from overcharging. In other words, when a battery is fully charged, it will automatically stop charging. While in the trickle charger, this feature is not represented, which means if you overcharge your device, there is a chance that you may overheat it.
Plus, you should check your car charger thoroughly before putting it to use. There is a slight chance that you may buy the wrong type of charger. Keep in mind that different car batteries require different car chargers.
And don’t take this as an unnecessary advice as you will be more likely to damage your own battery charger if you don’t know how to handle it properly.
3. Check the Condition of Your Wire
Before using your charger, make sure to check your wire first. The last thing you want to do is using a warped, broken or bent wire. This can seriously cause you trouble or even danger if you are not being careful.
4. Check the Plug
The next thing that you should do is to check the plug of your charger. Ensure that it is plugged into a grounded outlet. You should also read the manual to see whether it is plugged on the positive or the negative side. Little do you know, plugging on the wrong terminal can cause an explosion?
Some of the best car chargers feature reverse polarity warning, so this may not be a problem.
5. Check the Cable Length
Never forget to check the cable of your best car battery charger. If the cable is too short, it may be difficult for your charger to reach your car. If the cable is too long, it may get in your way. So, always ensure that it is long enough so that you will not have any problem regarding charging.
6. Set Charge Rate
The higher the charge rate is, the hotter your internal battery temperature will become. In other words, your device will degrade sooner than you think if you keep using it on maximum power.
A solution to this is to choose a midrange charge level. Personally, I think it is the best range for your device. It is powerful enough for you to charge your car battery, at the same time; its medium performance will not overheat the internal battery of your car.
7. Charge Your Device
All you have to do is charge your car battery. However, as rule of thumb, never charge your car overnight. As I had mentioned before, overcharging can cause an explosion or even damage the performance of your charger. It is best to leave it connected until it achieves a full range.
More so, should there be any malfunctions concerning your battery charger, you should bring it to the nearest physician or contact the manufacturer immediately. It is not a wise move to fix your charger on your own, as you may get yourself in danger if you do not know what you are doing.
Alright, that’s it for today. I hope you find my tips useful and informative. Remember that these are my tips on using your car battery charger.
